An enthusiastic group of quilters gathered in Oxdrfit for the week end. Quilt artist, Nancy Bergman of Keewatin, ON gave a trunk show Friday night (about 40 in attendance). Saturday and Sunday, Nancy shared fabric landscape techniques with 18 students while in another room another group busily worked on quilt projects of their choosing. A number of the quilters literally camped out at the facility and enjoyed evening socialing by campfire light. Special thanks to retreat organizer, Heather and the genuine thoughtfulness of hosts Joan and Bob!

An “Ugly Fabric Challenge” has begun for members of our guild. Fat quarter sized pieces of ugly fabrics were requested from the membership. A couple of bags of assorted pieces will be circulated with the challenge for recipients to make something useful with the fabrics. More fabrics will be added and the bags passed on. Watch for pictures of the results…

Our Sewing Saturday schedule for January through June has been fine tuned and finalized. The complete calendar is available on the events page our website. As our Sewing Saturday chair says,
If you really don’t want to do another full size quilt, any of the Workshops will teach you a technique that can be used to make what ever you want, from a pot holder to a king size quilt and everything in between.
There’s something for everyone! And we haven’t even mentioned the potluck lunch….mmmm!
